                How Cold is Too Cold?

A look at the calendar tells us we’re firmly in the grip of winter and many states have that familiar blanket of snow across the landscape. Others may not have the same familiarity with snow shovels, but their temperatures are dipping pretty low, especially at night.

It’s the time of year when end- users should be asking themselves, “Is it too cold to use this product?” Always consult the Product Data Sheet to determine minimum temperature requirements before use. Here are a few general rules to keep in mind when working in
                    cold weather:

                    - Water-based sealers generally require minimum 50° F air and slab temp
- Solvent-based sealers generally require minimum 40° F air and slab temp
- Repair mortars generally require minimum 50° F air and slab temp
- Do not allow products to freeze after application
- When necessary, choose products with specialized low temperature characteristics Condition substrates, build wind breaks, provide indirect heating, etc.
Taking the time to know a product’s temperature limitations, and choosing those with the ability to function in low temperature conditions, is essential to meeting your customer’s needs, and helping you seal the deal!
